HILL SHEEP FARMING : A CONNEMARA TRADITION

The North Connemara hills are steeped in sheep and wool tradition, and at Sheep and Wool Centre this history is depicted in pictoral and live forms. Several breeds of sheep, some of them ancient western European breeds, graze in a unique setting of pleasant walks and spectacular views. These sheep are gathered by a collie dog, and visitors are free to mingle with the flock, try to identify different breeds or take home a photograph of a neolithic sheep.

Kathleen and Michael O'Toole invite you to come and experience the history and importance of wool in Ireland, and to become aware of the need to protect our heritage and our culture.

A wide range of locally made woollens, jewellery, crystal and other items are available as gifts and precious souvenirs.

No visit would be complete without trying some of our exceptional home cooking, from snacks and meals to the ever popular sweets, such as our carrot cake...
This Website features a brief introduction in French, German and Italian, with the main body of the site in English.
