The Sheep & Wool Museum was founded in 1992 with a view to displaying and conserving different items which were used in the wool industry locally. Part of the reason we set up was so that we could demonstrate to visitors and locals alike the various stages of wool handcraft industry as it was practised in the past. We were also aware of the potential extinction of several breeds of sheep, so our third ojective, if you like, was to generate interest in the conservation of rare breeds of sheep.
We invite you to enjoy the exhibits and demonstrations indoors, or take a stroll among the friendly sheep outdoors. Shop at your leisure for gifts and souvenirs, or choose from the delicious home-made fare from our own kitchen.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to Leenane, and that you will come visit us while you are here. |
